Well, its here and have fixed it up and have given it a go....what a blast, after watching the coach on the WaterRower website I seemed to easily mimic it...think It will be used a lot.

Started to feel muscles I have not used in years which must be a good thing. Going to take it steady for a few weeks and then will progress.
The look of the rower is I might add first class, it really is a well constructed, pleasing to the eye serious piece of kit, most impressed with the rower and the service I have received from yourself and company upto press.
I really like the wood finish, it does not seem out of place in my living room and is ever so sturdy. I have a friend who is a carpenter and will let you know what he thinks :)
My greatest concern was the seat as it did look rather uncomfortable but fear not, the padding is quite sufficient with a bloke my size at 6 foot 2 and... *cough* stones!!
I am very impressed and I know that takes a lot from a Yorkshireman but I call a spade a spade :)
I will let you know how I get on. I thank you.

I have to say that I, along with my wife and teenage children, am amazed by what the WaterRower, and my personal trainer Jill, have done to my physique and fitness in such a short space of time. I set myself the goal of getting rid of three stone over six months along with improving my general level of fitness so as to take up Rugby Refereeing to a decent standard - my general mental approach was 'what ever it takes I will do this' so I set myself the goal of exercising five times a week. So far, despite Christmas and New Year, I've lost at least 11 lbs, I only weigh myself once a month and last time was two weeks ago, and my shape has changed to the extent that I've had to tighten all my belts and old clothes, like my dinner suit, fit again! Using the Series IV monitor, an HRM, keeping a training log, and following Jill's schedule, is a huge motivator - I can see the improvement in my fitness in black and white in the log and the figures ust keep improving week by week.

My wife was sceptical at first, and not keen on a piece of fitness equipment being stored and used in the bedroom, but the looks of the machine helped win her over, it matches our bed and wardrobe far better than some aluminium and steel monster from our local gym, and she is now asking if I can get my personal trainer to put together a program for her! I now also have to compete for rowing time with my daughter as well. Even with only me using it beats our local gym fees hands down; if I went there five times a week to use the Concept 2's it would cost £25 and lots of standing around waiting for one to be free and then I have to watch someone else's TV or listen to their choice of music. With the WaterRower from Rowhire I can exercise when I want, for as long as I want, as often as I like.
Happy for you to quote me - I think WaterRowers should be available on the NHS. I was also tremendously impressed with the speed and manner in which the problem with the broken bracket was resolved.

We received the rower safely on Monday, started using it Monday night and can both see a serious attachment to it building up! It's fab- even the handle is really comfortable and it has such a great smooth action.

Thanks for your help and such efficient service. -
The rowing machine arrived as promised on Friday and my wife and I both love it! The set up instructions and background notes were comprehensive and your follow-up email shows an unexpected and commendable level of customer care.

...and can report good results using the Waterrower. My initial weight was 12 st 7 lbs. I now weight around 11 st 4 lbs - having lost about 17 lbs I look better, feel better, have more energy and my BMI is normal. My main rowing is at present focused on steady 30-60 minute sessions, pyramid rowing and the occasional speed sessions. I'm averaging 3.8 - 4 miles every 30 mins.
- Rick
My wife undertakes daily 15-30 minute sessions and feels healthier. Her arthritis in one knee has improved and her knee is more flexible and less painful than before. -
As for feedback, all i can say is everything was perfect from the intial order through to the e-mails and customer support. I have and will continue to reccomend your service to anyone who mentions the word fitness or rowing and hope to hire one again soon, (as soon as we buy a bigger house!!!!!).
- Alan
Many thanks again and i look forward to hearing from you soon, -
I'd just like to thank you for the proffessional way that the whole system is set out. I think the fact that you can hire it, and the arrangements for delivery and collection, as well as the advice from the trainer is excellent. I wouldnt hesitate to recomend your service to others!

Having been away with work a lot for the first couple of weeks of the hire I've now been using the machine regularly for about 6 weeks. I have to say I'm absolutely delighted with it- to be honest against my expectations.

I've always hated exercise machinery, and have lasted no more than a couple of weeks when I've tried things before. However, having got to that certain age (and weight!) where my general fitness was starting to affect my enjoyment of life I wanted to give something else a proper go. I do some cycling and walking, but fitting enough in during the week (and with the Highland weather) have made the times when I do go out less enjoyable than they used to be. I used to do a bit of rowing when I was younger (with the emphasis on "a bit"), and enjoyed it, but had never enjoyed using the flywheel machines-too much like sitting in a gym, another pet hate. I thought the idea of a machine that might recreate some of the feeling of being on the river was well worth a go, especially as I didn't have to invest up front in something I might not use much.
Six weeks in and I'm regularly using the machine 5 or 6 times a week for 1/2 hour a time, enjoying it and feeling so much better. The smoothness and the sound of the water is just such a relaxing experience. It hasn't had much impact on my weight yet, but a definite change in shape, and I just have so much more energy. I use it with a heart rate monitor, and can see a real difference in my fitness, and already huge difference in my performance. I have to say I haven't registered with the personal trainer, because I wanted to be comfortable at the start with what I was doing, and enjoy that, rather than follow someone-else's schedule. However, I think I may well sign up for that soon to keep moving things on a bit.

Hi Tony, Everything is fine. I am very happy with the rower. Hearing the "river" while you're rowing does really make a difference. After six weeks the results are already starting to show. I feel very good, relaxed, toned up: rowing is an excellent way of ending the working day. Jill has set ut a programme for me. I also find the regular e-mails very useful.

Thanks Tony, I religiously used the machine on a daily for (20 - 25mins a day) the first 3 weeks and then have been in the US on 3 weeks travels. I'm looking forward to getting back onto the machine this weekend when I return. I'm feeling much better for it and prior to my travels had lost c. 6 llbs and was definitely feeling much trimmer and visibly firming up too.

Firstly can I say what a fantastic service you offer, the Waterower turned up at 10am this morning, the assembly instructions were so easy. Well done! Fantastic service!
- Darren
Once again thank you very much, I am extremely impressed with the way that I have been dealt with.

I assembled the rower whilst watching television on Friday evening; it couldn't have been any simpler! I even managed 7000m before going to the pub! The rower's great, very pleased with it.

Apologies for the delay in answering. Happily my water rower and I are getting on very well. Previous fitness drives have been based on running which was always painful, hard to maintain (especially as the evenings draw in and the temperature drops) and led to even flatter feet! Thus they could never be extended to become a permanent habit. Although it is still very early days, with the water rower I do feel a lot more confident. It is much more convenient, quick and comfortable to fit in: you don't have to go out into the dark and cold, you can still keep an eye on the children as you exercise (no extra child minding required!), with less pain more of you gets exercised and, especially with the marriage of water rower and ipod, it really can be quite enjoyable! I have taken to setting the alarm 10 minutes earlier and so can fit in a brisk 10minutes before my morning shower. It gets the heart pumping and a few endorphins flowing so I arrive at work feeling much fitter, happier and hopefully more able to face the days challenges!

I can't say the scales have dropped a great deal (yet) however there are certainly signs of the waist band shortening and love handles diminshing - so something appears to be changing. Certainly, with my timed sessions the distances are steadily increasing and that in itself provides a good incentive and spur. If you could only get our eleven month old to sleep through the night I'd feel even better! Best wishes -

Thanks for keeping in touch. The rower is behaving very well!, and also may I say is very easy to store(vertically against a wall),and looks great, visitors and guests believe that it is a piece of contemporary furniture.
Progress so far is as follows...rowing 4 or 5 times a week, with the computer facing away, whilst watching (sorry can't tell you what I watch C5 6.00pm). Doing approximately 5-7000m,in 20-30mins. Kate is doing approx 5000m in 25mins. We have both had this cold bug that has been doing the rounds, so are just getting back into the rowing.
Appear to have lost the tablets for the water, so if you could send me some more that would be great (I take it that to drop an alka seltzer wouldn't do the trick!!).
Adjusted my style based on the video clip you sent. Physically, I do a quite labour intensive job, so feel I'm fit anyway, but am surprised at how much I feel my torso/trunk is worked... which as I am rapidly approaching an age which I'd rather not discuss, can only be a good thing!
-
The machine has been excellent, and even when used 3 times a week I incurred no stress related injury whatsoever. I will most likely be having another hire next year for the start of season 07/08!

“We have recently investigated indoor stationary rowing machines and believe the WaterRower to be the best on the market. They were also rated by Consumer Digest Magazine as a "best buy" product. This machine uses a patented WaterFlywheel almost the identical movement of a sliding seat rowing shell... producing a smooth, rhythmic motion and an impact free work out for any level of fitness or age."
"One of the main advantages of rowing outdoors or using a WaterRower machine is the sitting position of rowing which removes the exerciser's body weight from the injury-prone hip, knee and ankle joints and therefore reduces the potential of impact injury to these joints commonly associated with aerobic exercise.""Rowing, indoors or outdoors, at any exercise level of intensity, requires a greater exercise expenditure than any other aerobic activity. Calories are burned in relation to the number of muscles used and the intensity and duration of the exercise. Rowing with a sliding seat uses a very large muscle mass since the upper, lower and trunk muscles are used vigorously"

"After months of whingeing about excess body fat and how I needed to work miracles before the summer, I decided to buy a WaterRower. A friend at work had one and said it would change everything! I am lucky enough to have an in-house gym at work but searching for a free rowing or cycle machine at lunchtime held little appeal. This all changed when my WaterRower arrived. My flat mate and I couldn’t wait to use it.
Unlike any other rowing machine, you can make your session as tough or relaxed as you like. I use it for 30 minutes every morning and barely notice the time passing. It’s a really good total body toner. The best bit is the sound of the water swishing backwards and forwards when you’re on it creating a state of total calm. Not something you would normally associate with a piece of fitness equipment. The design is very sexy and looks great upright in my flat when not being used.
My friends who religiously set off for the gym every morning to sweat it out are now envious of my personal gym in the lounge. When I think of how dull my trips to the gym used to be with the guys hogging every piece of equipment I wanted to use. I can now honestly say that after 3 months of using it I have noticed a remarkable change. I haven’t quite reached the athletic look yet but I’m very happy with the results.
I now watch breakfast TV from my rowing machine rather than the sofa. Having the right equipment can make the world of difference and it’s a fantastic way to start the day."

What a joy this machine is to use.
I started rowing in October of 2002, because the gym I had just joined had a rowing machine. There was never anybody using this piece of equipment so I thought I'd give it a try. I remember very vividly how my whole core was tired after rowing.
I continued to row and over a period of 4 months lost 47 pounds. (Rowing is now my primary means of exercise, with sessions that average 64 to 90 minutes, 6 days a week.) I love to row! I acquired the WaterRower because I can't stand to miss a session. Now if the gym is closed or I just don't feel like going to the gym, I can row at home.
I began rowing on a machine different than the WaterRower. I only accidentally stumbled across the WaterRower while trying to find the "other" machine to purchase at a local exercise equipment store. When I tested the WaterRower, I could not believe the difference. There is no comparison. The WaterRower looks good, is quiet and actually makes you feel like you are in the water! I am now finding myself wanting to skip the gym, and workout on the WaterRower instead of that other machine! - John Merritt - Fitness Fanatic and WaterRower Owner -

“The WaterRower is a seriously valuable training tool. Its flexibility caters for all users from beginners to experienced athletes. Its smoothness makes it ideal for rehabilitation and clients returning from injury."

- Alan Stanley - Lifeguard and WaterRower Owner
“I work as a Lifeguard during the summer months...I row everyday with a Van Dyne rescue rowboat during the job. With the end of summer I wanted to continue with my rowing in some capacity... and decided to purchase a WaterRower. The workouts that I have been getting using this machine are truly exceptional. I like the idea of using water in a sealed tank as a source of resistance and the sliding motion of the seat is real smooth. At the beginning of each stroke the system makes it feel like you are actually pulling oars through the water."

"Water Rower and the Water Crew class have proven a fabulous addition to my programs.... the Water Crew class is the only class that I have seen in my 20 plus years in the industry where the participants finish the class with more energy than they commenced with! WOW"
"I have other rowers in my facility but they rarely get used these days due to the smooth action and quality construction of the Water Rower"

"The Holy Grail for all ergo makers is to find a product that somehow captures the feel of rowing in a boat: a smooth ‘catch’; a resistance that loads their body just like it does in a boat and a recovery phase that simulates the glide a rower experiences as the boat moves under them. In over twenty five years of rowing, I’ve tried all that the market has to offer and there’s only one that comes close to capturing the essence of the sport: Water Rower.
Explaining just how good it feels, is a challenge to anyone who’s never been out in a boat but here goes. I’m on the Water Rower, paddling hard enough to work up a sweat. The pick up feels right, I know it won’t stress my lower back, like other ergos seem to, so I let my kids use it when they want. What’s more, I feel good on something made of wood; like I’m in the wooden boat I never owned. As I close my eyes and listen to the gentle swoosh of the water, my mind puts me in a shell, gliding over the calm surface of a beautiful lake. I smile and open my eyes. By the end of my work out I know that this machine is the nearest thing to rowing. My whole family, is happy for it to be part of the furniture in my home.

"I feel that my WaterRower is a part of me, something I hope I can pass onto my son, a unique and valued piece. Something I look upon as a fine piece of furniture as well as a superb fitness tool."
